Policy Forum: ''The Next 50 Years: EU-ASEAN Cooperation in Critical Technologies'

Critical technologies are becoming closely linked to economic development, national security, and strategic autonomy. As both the European Union and ASEAN seek to strengthen their technological capabilities, an important question emerges: how can the two regions build a stronger and more balanced partnership in critical technologies over the next 50 years?

This Policy Forum is a collaboration between Future Forum, CEIAS, Paragon International University, and CICP, aimed to explore the future of EU–ASEAN cooperation in critical technologies and the opportunities and challenges that may shape this relationship in the decades ahead. Drawing on his research and expertise in European and Southeast Asian affairs.

Dr. Bradley J. Murg will serve as the discussant, bringing a complementary perspective to the conversation and reflecting on the opportunities and challenges of strengthening EU–ASEAN technological cooperation.

Mr. Matej Šimalčík will examine how the EU and ASEAN can deepen cooperation while navigating differences in economic capacity, regulatory approaches, strategic priorities, and the rapidly changing global technology landscape.
