The problem of waste is one of the biggest challenges in Cambodia. Phnom Penh alone generates around 1 million tons of waste per year. According to a report done by the Ministry of Environment in 2018, the amount of waste in Cambodia has been increasing by 10 percent each year. Effective policies and solutions have to be taken seriously to tackle the issue. This paper will focus specifically on outdoor waste that is unmanaged and improperly thrown away on the street and in public places in Phnom Penh.
