OU Virak
Venghour Than studies dance, choreography, creative writing, and filmmaking. Having a deep appreciation for his homeland’s sophisticated culture and history, Venghour expresses his identity and asserts his urgency towards societal issues surrounding gender, environment, and war through dance, writing, and film. From 2020 to 2024, he danced as a member of the first gay dance company in Cambodia, Prumsodun Ok & NATYARASA, which overcame destruction and trauma by giving tradition a new life and elevating the quality of life for the LGBTQIA+ population. He was an artist-student, training with Trinity La MaMa in New York and interned at New York Live Arts, founded by American choreographer Bill T. Jones. He performed nationally and internationally in Cambodia, Hong Kong, South Africa, and the US.
